Welcome to the Dream Team, a hand picked team of elite destiny players, tasked with one simple task. Vault of Glass: https://www.youtube.com.

Calcified Fragments are small nodules of dark energy in solid form. Each unlocks a piece of a very deep story about the origins of Oryx, hints about the Darkness, and secrets of the Traveler, all readable in the Grimoire.

There are a total of 50 Calcified Fragments on Dreadnaught scattered around the entire ship. They can be collected and returned to Eris Morn during quests for rewards and are used in conjunction with the Touch of Malice, an Exotic weapon, similar to a degree with the Vex Mythoclast and Necrochasm. You need 45 fragments on one character and to have completed parts of The Old Hunger and all of the Hunger Pangsquests to get the weapon.

Collecting all 50 Fragments is also part of the Moments of Triumph for Year Two. Check out our page for all the other challenges!

PREDATORS

When entering the Mausoleum from spawn, head to the far right to where the map 'ends'. Use your Ghost to jump across the invisible platforms to get to the far right balcony. The far off platform in the first image is your goal.

II[edit]

THE HATEFUL VERSE

While in the Mausoleum, very close to Fragments I and III, there is a pentagonal doorway. Enter it and go left. There is a fragment behind a pillar. If you're using the first image as your reference point, the door will be to your left.

III
[edit]

THE OATH

When you enter the Mausoleum from the entrance closest to the spawn point through under the Cabal ship, head straight across to the other side. There you'll find a doorway with a small cavern inside the wall of a room. Head through the small passage and a fragment will be located up on the wall. This door is located two doors to the left of the doorway you'd enter to go to the Founts when facing it.

IV[edit]

SYZYGY

While in the Mausoleum, head to the underbelly of the Cabal's ship. There's a fragment located on a fallen beam beneath it.

V[edit]

NEEDLE AND WORM

From the spawn point in the Hull Breach, head straight and under the Cabal ship to where you'd normally go to get to the Mausoleum. However, when the lighting changes, stop and go to your left. There is a fragment in the debris.

VI[edit]

SISTERS

From spawn, head to the furthest right area from you in the Hull Breach (the far right corner). Enter the room and there will be a small hole in the wall. Go through. If you see something that needs a Wormsinger Rune, you're in the right place. Go to the far wall and enter the hole. As the passages come, follow these directions: Enter hole, go left, go straight through the only hole, and go left again. There's a fragment on the far side of the room on a pillar.

VII[edit]

THE DIVE

From spawn in the Hull Breach, go left and go to the lowest main level of the main part of the ship. There is a door down there. Go in and go left. There is a fragment located directly to the left of the bright light.

VIII[edit]

LEVIATHAN

From spawn in the Hull Breach, look up to the right to where there's the high broken wall. Jump up it. There is a fragment on the side facing away from Saturn.

IX[edit]

THE BARGAIN

From spawn in the Hull Breach, go towards the Cabal ship. There is a fragment in the triangular debris. It is more or less a straight line from where you touch down when you land.

X[edit]

IMMORTALS

From spawn, head around to the right and go to the Hall of Souls. From there, scale the left wall and then jump up a few ledges to the doorway. There will be a hole in the wall. Enter it and keep to the left. You'll find a fragment in there.

XI[edit]

CONQUERORS

Starting from the Court of Oryx's starting point where you place the runes, turn back and walk down the hall. Head down through the left, red-lit passage and then look up to the right when you're out. Up on that platform is a fragment. You can get there by jumping on the invisible platforms, locatable with your Ghost.

XII[edit]

OUT OF THE DEEP

Starting from the entrance to the Court of Oryx, walk away from the Court go right. In that hall you'll see pillars at the end more to the right. By jumping on them, you can reach a hidden fragment located on top of one of them.

XIII[edit]

INTO THE SKY

From the Court of Oryx, enter is and head down to the right. There will be a suspended platform off to the side between the Court and the nearby walkways. There is a fragment attached to the side of the pillar. Jumping onto the obsidian rocks in the Court can help prevent damage from being taken if needed.

XIV[edit]

52 AND ONE

When in the Trenchway and crossing to (or on) the higher side, go to the hallway where you scanned the worm in the third mission, The Dreadnaught. There will be a small hole in the wall nearby. There is only one path, so follow it until you see broken pillars at the end of a hall. There's a fragment there.

XV[edit]

BORN AS PREY

This one is very close to XIV. Head back out to were you first entered the small hole in the Trenchway. Across from the gate in the main hallway are broken, fallen pillars. Above and behind them is a fragment.

XVI[edit]

THE SWORD LOGIC

Located right near where you start the mission The Dreadnaught on the outside of the ship (from the Trenchway), there is a fragment located on the lower hull of the Dreadnaught. Jump down and collect it. You won't die from walking down there.

XVII[edit]

THE WEAKNESS VERSE

Near to where XVI is, head to the far side from where you spawn in The Dreadnaught mission. There are two doorways: The first that you go through in the mission, or just to enter the main area of the Trenchway, and then there's one farther down. Head to the farthest doorway and go down the hall. There's a fragment on the left side.

XVIII[edit]

LEVIATHAN RISES

This is only available in the mission Regicide. Before facing off against Oryx and when you're in the Trenchway, cross to where you'd enter for the end of the mission in Oryx's temple-like area, but turn left towards the supports. There's a fragment there on the wall.

XIX[edit]

CRUSADERS

Either in the mission The Dreadnaught or while patrolling in the Trenchway, head to a far off platform while on the upper level (opposite side to Oryx's chambers with the dark energy rising onto it) by jumping across an invisible platform you'll be able to make it to a ledge. Enter the dark halls and turn right at the intersection. There you'll find a fragment.

XX[edit]

Head to the opposite end of the walkway that you went to for XIX (opposite side of Oryx's Asylum) or to the left once you've crossed over to the upper level of the Trenchway. Bring out your Ghost and a pathway will become visible to you. Once you start, make your way up but go right rather than towards the wall the first time you can do that. Make your way higher to the right until you can jump to a ledge. In there you'll find a tunnel with your fragment inside on the left. There are typically Hive in the back of the room.

XXI[edit]

AN INCISION

Mode

From the Mausoleum, enter the Founts, directly across from the entrance to the Mausoleum when entering from the Hull Breach. Before turning left where you'd enter the main area of the Founts, go up to the gate. There's a fragment there.

XXII[edit]

THE HIGH WAR

Right after XXI, just in the entrance to the Founts from the Mausoleum, turn into the next hallway (to your left if you're facing the gate or just continue on if you didn't go for the previous fragment) and jump up onto the hanging object above you. There's a fragment on the wall connected to the doorway you just came through.

XXIII[edit]

FIRE WITHOUT FUEL

Kings Fall Hard Mode Reddit Youtube

In the same hallway you're in for XXII in the Founts, head down it until you see the openings in the floor. Head down the lower hall until you reach the end. There will be a large doorway on the right, but continue to the end of the hall. Jump onto the pods, walk to the back wall, shoot out the back of the one on your left (when facing away from the wall), and pick up the fragment.

XXIV[edit]

THE SCREAM

During the mission Regicide when you get to The Asylum, look down to your left when you get into the new area. There is a fragment all the way down the supports.

XXV[edit]

DICTATA IR DAKAUA

Right after XXIV in the mission Regicide, walk down the main stairs a bit and then bring out your Ghost. You don't want to walk all the way down to the floor to jump on the platform, but you might want to clear the enemies first. There are a series of invisible platforms you can jump on just off the staircase. Drop down to the lowest and longest invisible platform, then jump to the one hovering under the bridge, and then across to a built in ledge with the fragment on it. Alternatively, you can just jump straight onto the built in ledge from the long invisible platform if you have the agility and accuracy for it.

XXVI[edit]

STAR BY STAR BY STAR

This fragment can only be obtained in the StrikeThe Sunless Cell. When you reach a hallway filled with stone cylinders hanging from the ceiling, look up to your left and you'll see a thick pillar you can jump on. The fragment is up there.

XXVII[edit]

EAT THE SKY

For this one, during the mission Regicide right after you go through the second Rupture into the Asylum, stop and turn around. There's a fragment behind a rock.

XXVIII[edit]

KING OF SHAPES

During the Shield Brother's Strike after exiting the Cabal ship, turn to the right and search through the debris for the next fragment. The fragment is located near a direct path to the main door of where you fight the two bosses.

XXIX[edit]

Mode

CARVED IN RUIN

In the King's FallRaid, before heading into the gravity lift in the Basilica, look at the pillar that was blocking your view of the transporter. On the side facing the transporter you'll see your next fragment.

XXX[edit]

A GOLDEN AMPUTATION

This is only obtainable in the Raid, King's Fall. Before starting the totem area after the ship section, you'll see several Acolytes worshiping. Look a bit to the right from where you spawn in and you'll see a fragment on a pillar.

XXXI[edit]

BATTLE MADE WAVES

In the King's Fall Raid, get to the section where you're walking down a long, dark path after the fight with the Warpriest. When the path splits into multiple directions, go left and then go left again. It'll be extremely dark and hard to see, so watch out for pitfalls. At the end of the hall, on a wall, there's a fragment.

XXXII[edit]

MAJESTIC. MAJESTIC.

In the King's Fall Raid, after defeating Golgoroth, there is a fragment up on a ledge down the left path the first time you can go down multiple directions.

XXXIII[edit]

WHEN DO MONSTERS HAVE DREAMS

During the jumping puzzle after Golgoroth in the King's Fall Raid, there is a fragment located behind one of the moving pillars right down on the side where you entered. Drop down to the lowest platform. The fragment is on a support and can only be seen and accessed when the thrusting pillar moves back, so be careful when getting it.

XXXIV[edit]

MORE BEAUTIFUL TO KNOW

This fragment is obtainable through the chest on the opposite side from Calcified Fragment I in the Mausoleum. It is over the large open area with no floor.

To open the chest, you need to smell like the Hive. To do so, enter the room where you picked up Fragment III. Stay in there and don't move for 30 seconds. You'll receive a buff. Then, sprint out and make your way across to the left side of the empty area by jumping on the invisible platforms. Reach the chest in time and you'll be able to open in. Beware: There are Thralls that are invincible and will attack you when you don't have the Scent.

Alternate Path

XXXV[edit]

THIS LOVE IS WAR

This chest is located in the Hall of Souls in the same area as X. To open this chest, you need to hold down the X or square button for quite some time. However, this comes at the risk of dying because of the poison. To survive, you must do one of three things, whichever suits your fancy:

The proper method to get this chest is to wait for the acolytes in one of the three areas of hall of souls to start a ritual. The taken will then spawn and if you kill the waves a major taken knight or wizard will spawn. If it is the wizard then you have the right one otherwise try again. After you kill all the taken that has the major taken wizard a relic will appear making you an interloper. that interloper perk will keep all damage from the taken consumption 0. allowing you (for a short time) to get the chest.

Option two is to max out your defense and activate your Super. The Light protects you, but it will most likely be a close call. It's recommended that you use a Bladedancing Hunter, Defender Titan, or Sunsinger Warlock for this.

The final option is to use a sword with increased defence, max out your armour, and block with the sword while opening it.

XXXVI[edit]

EATER OF HOPE

This fragment is obtainable as a chest reward from a self-triggered event in the Founts using an Agonarch Rune. The Taken will invade the area and you will need to defeat them all to get the reward. The cue, 'If you seek suffering, this is the place!' will appear when you've successfully activated it.

Note: This is not available until you've charged the Agonarch Rune and that takes multiple days of killing Taken Lieutenants to do.

XXXVII[edit]

SHAPES : POINTS

This fragment is located in the chest inside the Cabal ship. You can access it from the Mausoleum. You need a Skyburners Command Pass, a guide for which can be found here.

XXXVIII[edit]

THE PARTITION OF DEATH

This one is more random. First you need a Wormsinger Rune which is dropped randomly by killing Hive. Then, use it on the switch in the right of the Hull Breach between the entrance to the Hall of Souls and the entrance to the Mausoleum. A different Hive Champion can spawn when you do this, but you need to kill a particular one. If it is summoned, kill Blahgrish and the mob of enemies. Pick up the Wormfeeder Rune it drops and kill 50 more enemies without dying. A key will drop, the Key of Yuul (seemingly only from Blahgrish), which can be used in the Hall of Souls. The chest you can open with the fragment in it is there, high up on a ledge, the same ledge as fragment XI.

Note: You do not need to kill Blahgrish or open a chest with the Key of Yuul. That is just an example. You get the fragment from the first chest you open with a key other than certain special chests whose keys are not gained with a Wormsinger Rune.

END OF FAILED TIMELINE

Complete the Warpriest encounter on the King's Fall Raid Challenge Mode.

The trick to this encounter is that you must beat the Warpriest without having the same person hold the aura more than once. You can die as many times as you want in this section. The Warpriest also shoots faster than normally.

XLIV[edit]

STRICT PROOF ETERNAL

Complete the Golgoroth enounter on the King's Fall Raid Challenge Mode.

To complete this challenge, you must kill Golgoroth as usual but everyone must hold its gaze before it runs out, meaning you must swap the focus to each player and then let it run out on the last one.

XLV[edit]

I'D SHUT THEM ALL IN CELLS

Complete the Oryx encounter on the King's Fall Raid Challenge Mode.

To do this, you must defeat Oryx four times, meaning three Shades of Oryx as well as the Taken King himself. In order to complete this challenge, you have to make sure that you do not detonate any lf the bombs until you've killed three Shades of Oryx. After that, you can detonate all 16 bombs if you did it right. However, if you failed to detonate one or it was never acquired in the first place, worry not. You do not need to kill Oryx in one attack. You just need to kill at least three Shades and then the main boss.

L[edit]

WORMFOOD

To get the 50th Calcified Fragment, you need to complete any Court of Oryx bounty chain that you automatically get. All steps must be done on the Dreadnaught. This is an example of one of the bounty chains:

  • Step 1 - Dreadnaught Headhunter: Kill 15 Taken with precision damage.
  • Step 2 - Thrill Seeker: Melee three Cursed Thralls without dying.
  • Step 3 - Challenge the Court: Stolen Rune: Summon foes with a Stolen Rune and kill them in under 2 minutes.

Note: This is rewarded from a bounty chain, not an actual questline. The first bounty is automatically given to you while fighting in the Court of Oryx and the others replace their predecessors when you complete them. They will appear under the 'Bounties' area in the 'Quests' section on the right side, but not as an actual quest. The bounty icons will look like the ones below, starting with the one on the left and progressing through to the right.

Yesterday, I joined a group from LFG at the warpriest. We struggled a bit on him, but ultimately took him down. Next, we worked diligently on completing the Golgoroth challenge. There was a bit of discussion on whether to DPS on the 1st gaze grab, or the 2nd gaze grab, and then whether or not to DPS on the 6th gaze as well. We ironed it out and finally dropped Golgoroth and completed the challenge. The sisters were no problem at all, but then we got to Oryx. Let me start off by saying we did not finish Oryx, but this is not the problem as I have failed to complete Oryx many times. We spent roughly 1.5 - 2 hours working on this boss and I came to a realization...

I MISS THE BOSSES HAVING JUST ONE STRATEGY.

What do I mean by this?

Atheon: It was random on who was teleported, but there was a strategy. One person grabbed the relic and took out the junk while the other 2 cleared Oracles. The 3 remaining on the outside cleared the supplicants to pave the way. Everyone meets in the middle, hopefully with a weapons of light bubble and you shoot him in the Juicebox. Profit. One strategy. Simple, Beautiful.

Crota: You had a Swordbearer, you had a bubble titan, and you had 4 other people with tracking rocket launchers. Left side, right side, didnt matter. Come out, kill the sword, go pick it up, Titan drops bubble to distract the boomers. 'Rockets' Kneel, chop, Profit.

With the complexity of Oryx (and dont get me wrong, I love the raid, I love the challenge) a general strategy has been developed. You nominate a runner, plates 1, 2, and 3, and 2 Titans running Blessing and Weapons of light bubbles to melt the Ogres. But what happens is every single group... EVERY SINGLE GROUP seems to have 6 different people in it.

Party Leader: This is the guy who obviously arranged the party. Typically an Alpha type who made the decision to put this group together.

Silent Submissive: This guy is along for the ride. Doesn't want to ruffle any feathers for fear of being booted. Only wants that sweet loot at the end.

You-Tube Expert: This guy KNOWS the strategy. May not have much experience, but has seen every iteration of every youtube strategy.

Angry Nice Guy: This guy has experience and just wants to get it done. May have a family and has other things to do, so lets just do this. Gets annoyed with all the arguing, but agrees anyway and is too nice to leave.

The Newb: Always that guy. Dont hate them, but they dont quite get the procedure right every time.

The Passive Aggressive: This guy has been in every single raid party I find on an LFG site. He is the reason that it seems to struggle. Whenever the party leader lays out the plan, this guy has a negative comment, usually followed with 'but we can try it your way.'

Kings Fall raid has a multitude of different strategies, and all are viable: -Kill Knights and detonate blights each round -8 and 8 Blights Strategy -8, 4, and 4 Blights Strategy -No Knight Strategy -Titans up top Strategy -Titans in the middle Strategy

All of these work, but only when the group can agree on one strategy and work together. Every time that the strategy doesnt work, someone suggesting trying a new strategy throws the whole group balance off. Leader cannot lead properly. The new guy doesnt know who to listen to. The middle guys start getting frustrated because they just want to complete it.

Next time you are in an LFG group, make note of which one you are and think twice before second guessing every decision. Just because you have multiple completions doesnt mean that everyone does. At the beginning of the final encounter, discuss it with your group and come to a consensus and work on that until it is done properly.

EDIT: Thanks for the responses. There have been a couple more 'Types' that need added

The Social Butterfly: This guy has experience with the raid and generally knows what to do. This person does not listen to what strat is being used because you can hear all of the people talking to him in real life when he turns his mic off of mute. When he fails he responds with 'sorry guys I couldn't hear the timer...' /r/ElusivePineapple

The Blame Guy: The guy who's fault it never is for dieing and normally blames the titan bubble or relic runner. /r/ClockingGames

The Optimistic Guy: Easily identifiable by these lines 'Oh man this group totally has the ability to clear this. Great last attempt we got it this time. Oh this is the run right here.' /r/RainbowPuffs

The Drunk Guy: You will know him because he will tell you how much he has drank today. Then apologize when he dies and tell you again how much he has drank today. Other signs include frequent AFK (bathroom, refills), slurred speech, and general lack of ability to follow directions.
